About

Built by someone who's done the work

Gundwa DX is a South African software studio founded by Ashley January. The name borrows from the Swahili word gundua, meaning "to discover," paired with DX for digital transformation.

Ashley spent years as a Senior Project Manager in telecoms, leading complex software delivery projects. As a Business Analyst and Data Analyst, he worked across core Vodacom systems, from USSD user journeys and loyalty programme engine updates to the modernisation of legacy back-end systems that most customers never see. He also built automated Power BI and Excel dashboards that turned raw operational data into insights teams could act on immediately.

That experience is what Gundwa DX is built on: most organisations don't need more data, they need the data they already have to actually work for them. It's also why we build our own products. Spaza Books came from seeing small businesses run their books on WhatsApp and paper slips. AweMatric came from learners with free past papers but no one to explain the memo. And FiscalPulse comes from first-hand experience as a school treasurer.
